Sample Food List A

Sample food list for a trip of three nights and four days. We put-in on a Saturday morning and take-out on a Tuesday around noon. Minimizes the use of fresh meat in order to remove the need for a cooler. Also makes it easier to extend the trip longer.

Dinners

Saturday, Sunday, Monday

  • 3 x Serving of instant carbs:
    • Instant mashed potatoes
    • Instant rice
    • Instant noodles
  • 2 x Potatoes
  • Onion
  • Zucchini
  • 1 x Block of marble cheese

Breakfasts

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

  • Nalgene of oatmeal
  • 1 x Bag of bagels
  • Bulk dried fruit

Lunch and Snacks

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, possibly Tuesday, Evenings around the fire

  • 3 x Tuna vacuum packs
  • 2 x Bag of Triscuits
  • Bulk trail mix, nuts, fruit
  • Summer sausage

Drinks

  • Consume lots of water, no matter what
  • Coffee of some variety (instant or with a percolator)
  • Tea
  • Chocolate milk mix
  • Juice mix
  • Booze of your choice!

Notes

  • Potatoes cooked in the fire at night can be made into home fries in the morning.
  • This specific plan doesn't require any coolers. Only the vegetables could be a problem, and only if the trip is extended by several days.

Sample Food List B

Three nights and four days. Put-in on a Saturday morning and take-out on a Tuesday around noon. Has more fresh meat included in the plan, requiring the need for cooling. Any fresh meat is only good for 4-5 days, even when cooled.

Dinners

Saturday, Sunday, Monday

  • 2 x Instant noodles/rice
  • 3 x Single serving of meat:
    • Butterfly pork chops
    • Marinating steak
    • Chicken breast
  • 1 x Potatoes
  • Onion
  • Zucchini
  • 1 x Block of marble cheese

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
